A Texas mom is in jail on accusations that she strangled her own five-year-old daughter. Authorities say that 37-year-old Melissa Towne called her daughter “evil,” before taking her life in a brutal and long-drawn murder. The details of this gruesome child murder are shocking, and almost too graphic to repeat. Authorities in Houston say that the 37-year-old Texas mom took her five-year-old daughter to a wooded park area on Sunday, before making her get on her knees and executing her. Police say Melissa Towne cut the child’s throat and then put a plastic bag over her head. The entire ordeal took around 45 minutes, while the child reportedly pleaded for her life. KWTX News reports that the 37-year-old mother suffers from schizophrenia and other mental issues, which may have led to her crazed state when the crime took place. The man, named Timothy Marion Haslett, Jr., reportedly abducted the young woman from Kansas City before keeping her captive in his home in Excelsior Springs. Fortunately, the unnamed victim was able to escape from the home, where she’d been for a “significant period of time.” The woman, identified only as “TJ” in some reports, says that Haslett killed her friends and held her captive. The seven-years-old disappearance of this Kentucky woman is having some new life breathed into it with media headlines lighting up with this latest development.
